Kellie Kerner is a studio potter and the founder of kkstoneware located in Dallas, Texas. Born and raised in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, the city’s ingrainment in the rust belt has influenced a unique glazing technique throughout this body of work. Rust is utilized as a surface treatment, derived from an iron mordant created from her great-grandfather’s hardware passed down by her father. As of late, this work focuses on functional vessels that brings attention and intention through form; a reminder to be grounded & present in the moments you’re in, the company you hold, & the environment around you. Additionally, this body of work pulls references from her technical understanding of geology and love for rock climbing.
